Kids Care
A lifetime of healthy smiles starts early.
As a practice led by parents, we know that when kids are given the time and tools they need to feel comfortable, they thrive. The same principle holds true in dentistry for our youngest patients. When children are introduced to the dentist as their very first teeth emerge, they develop the ease and confidence to maintain a lifetime of smart dental habits.
Baby Visits
Our smallest patients are the most fun! The American Association of Pediatric Dentistry recommends that a child begin to see a dentist when their first tooth appears, or no later than their first birthday. We call these “lap visits” because little patients can get used to seeing the dentist from the safe space of a parent’s lap. It’s a great way to get to know us and answer any questions you might have about nutrition, what to look for as teeth come in, and more. For children of existing patients—up to age two—the first lap visit is free.
Toddler Visits
We understand the importance of positive experiences at the dentist for our young patients and will take the time to provide great education and care to your child. Many of our youngest patients who started visiting as babies climb up into the chair like big kids for their regular cleaning appointments by the time they’re three years old! We believe that positive exposure to dental care at a young age set them up for success in the future.
Adolescent Visits
Regular visits to the dentist office throughout childhood help reinforce good daily habits like brushing and flossing and make seeing the dentist feel like part of a normal, healthy “big kid” thing to do. These regular visits also allow our dentists to monitor the loss of baby teeth, spot any issues with alignment or crowding as permanent teeth emerge, and ensure the long-term health of adult teeth through preventative treatments like fluoride and sealants.
Teen Visits
As our teenage patients enter high school, we’re here to address any cosmetic concerns, spacing and bite issues, help boost self-confidence, and reinforce those healthy dental habits they’ve picked up throughout their time as little Nickel City patients!
